Emporia High junior Gentry Scheve placed second in the Class 5A State Tournament with a 67, falling in a playoff.

Gentry Scheve has earned another high accolade.

On Monday afternoon, the soon-to-be Emporia High senior was named a first-team All-5A State selection from the Kansas Golf Coaches Association.

Scheve is a three-time state qualifier, twice placing third before finishing as the state runner-up this past season in Class 5A.

He was also named the Centennial League Player of the Year for a second consecutive season. Scheve was the runner-up in the Centennial League Championships in April and won the Class 5A Regional hosted by Seaman.
