William Lynn Foster, 82, of Hartford, Kansas died at his home September 5, 2019.
William was born July 10, 1937 in Enid, Oklahoma the son of William Claud and Lois Alice (Chick) Foster. After serving 6 years in the United States Navy, William worked as a manager at the Kleppers Service Station in Emporia. He then was the City Marshal in Madison, Kansas and served as a deputy for Greenwood County Sheriff’s office at the same time. William then worked in security at Iowa Beef Processors and then retired from working in security at Newman’s Hospital in Emporia. William was a member of the Hartford United Methodist Church and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
On April 12, 1958 William married Linda L Gray in Emporia. She survives of the home. Other survivors include: sons, Donald Lynn Foster Sr (Danelle) of Waverly, Kansas and Douglas Earl Foster (Sheila) of Reading, Kansas; daughter, Diana M. Foster of Rocky Ford, Colorado; 11 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Foster, Sr.; brothers, Warren G. Foster, Edward C. Foster and Earl G. Foster; and sisters, Lois Alice Smith and Melvina R. Bible.
Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Patio Garden in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia. Pastor James Scott of the Cornerstone Baptist Church will officiate. Military Honors by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Interment will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 9, 2019 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
