State, local coronavirus orders face challenges in Kansas

Gov. Laura Kelly discusses the coronavirus pandemic during a news conference with Dr. Lee Norman, the state’s top health administrator, Friday at the Statehouse in Topeka.

The Emporia Gazette

Governor Laura Kelly will meet with President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss the state’s phased reopening and statewide testing strategies Wednesday.

According to a written release, other topics of discussion will include protecting America’s food supply chain, supporting Kansas’ farmers and “partnering to ensure the health and safety of food supply workers during the coronavirus pandemic.”

“I look forward to the discussion with President Trump on ways we can continue to work with the federal government on our response and recovery efforts,” Kelly said. “Our continued emphasis is on protecting Kansans’ health and well-being, and helping the state recover from a public health crisis that has exacted a painful financial toll on many. The economic damage will be long lasting, and will require collaboration at every level. I look forward to discussing how the President and I will continue partnering together in our recovery.”

We will have more information on the meeting as it becomes available.

Silence was a poor choice of words on my part. I apologize for that. My point still remains that things have become so polarized between the Republicans and the Democrats it’s going to ruin our country. I fear for my grandchildren and what will become in 20 to 30 years. How high can the national debt go before things completely fall apart. Even the press have become complete opposites on reporting on everything that’s going on. And want you to continue to right in these comments on different subjects of politics is part of the problem.

Well I’m finding out what it’s like to have a discussion with someone like Trump. Never wrong, always has an opinion. 👎

Aim_High

When you put words in someones mouth and then tell them you don't believe them, is that really having a discussion? Where I come from we call that talking to yourself.. 🤣

I can admit when I'm wrong... please show me where I said anything at all about who elects a President. This "argument" is about your "It’s too bad that they cannot be silenced" statement anyways...

Just because you feel a certain group makes zero difference in an election doesn't mean you should want to silence them. Trump didn't even get the popular vote, he barely won. Right wing "extremist" conservatives absolutely made a difference in 2016, and even though they all suck they have the right to be heard. Free speech yada yada yada.

I’m afraid I don’t believe what you just said. The silent majority(moderates) are the ones who elect the President’s, not the far right, or far left. Lmao 👍

Aim_High

I don't believe I said anything about who elects a President... I just said it was wrong that you want to go full commie and silence people's opinions. I only wrote 3 sentences... go back and read them slowly and you will see I said nothing you're claiming I did. Lmao 👍

Elrod

Here are two people who shows you exactly what’s wrong with our country. Two extremists from each side of the aisle who will never get along even if they’re trying to decide if it’s daytime or night time. It’s too bad that they cannot be silenced and let the majority of people on each party that are moderates make the choices for our country.

Aim_High

Silenced? Lmao! What are you, some sort of commie? I was just showing her "argument" goes both ways. I pretty much mirrored what she said, lol. I don't agree with 90% of what she says, but I wouldn't want to silence anyone...

SnowGypsy

Oh, you want people to be silenced, well, that is not what our country is about, well, maybe was about considering what the media does to stories these days. No, I do not support shutting down the opinions of American citizens, even ones that oppose my viewpoint including Aim_High, but sure looks like you do. There are countries where you could get your wish, so maybe look into relocation for best results!

Well, President Trump could certainly learn a few things from Gov. Kelly, but my guess is that he will visit with her, and then insult her and her ideas to no end. Trump is so lop-sided due to his coherence to the far right agenda that if he were not a "weeble", he would certainly fall over, but instead just "wobbles" through his reign as President as the citizens of the USA suffer. I simply cannot stand President Trump, but that goes for everyone that supports the termination of human life.

Well, UnConstitutional Kelly could certainly learn a few things from President Trump, but my guess is that she will visit with him, and then insult him and his ideas to no end. UnConstitutional Kelly is so loop-sided due to her coherence to the far left agenda that if she were not a "weeble", she would certainly fall over, but instead just "wobbles" through her reign as governor as the residents of Kansas suffer. I simply cannot stand Governor Kelly, but that goes for everyone that supports the termination of human life.
