Embrace Church Emporia will hold its next clothing giveaway from 1 - 3 p.m. June 29 at 7 E. Fourth Ave. If you or someone you know is in need of clothing or shoes, come down and get what you need.

Vacation Bible School

Westside Baptist Church, 2200 Prairie St., is hosting Vacation Bible School from 6-8 p.m. July 15-19. The theme is “The Incredible Race.” Registration is open to kids in the preschool to sixth grade range.

Early registration is free and available through the link on the Westside Baptist Church Facebook page. People can also register at the event.

.5K for Camp Alexander

Join Harry & Lloyd’s, 608 Main St., Americus, at 2 p.m. Saturday for its second annual .5K race to benefit Camp Alexander.

Local band All From Nothing will perform at 8 p.m.

Ice Cream Social

Join Emporia Presbyterian Manor for a BBQ picnic and ice cream social starting at 11:30 a.m. June 20. At this popular community-wide event, you can enjoy a grilled hamburger or hot dog from Fanestil Meats and benefit from the company of friends. The Sunshine Singers will perform, plus we have yard games and perhaps indoor games planned, as well as door prizes.

Embrace Mowing Service

Embrace Church Emporia asked the question, ‘If you had $100 and a few volunteers, what would you do to make Emporia better?” One of the answers was, “I would mow as many lawns as I could for the money.” On June 30, the church will be mowing lawns around Emporia.

Lyon County Republican

Women meet at EPL

The Lyon County Republican Women will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Emporia Public Library, 110 E. Sixth Ave.

Former Speaker Pro Tem of the Kansas House of Representatives Peggy Mast will be the guest speaker. Mast is the current chairperson for the Republican party.

Wolf Creek Party at the Park

Wolf Creek is hosting its second annual Party in the Park from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday at Kelley Park in Burlington. The event includes a free barbecue lunch from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for the community, along with activities for the entire family.

Free activities will be available, including bounce houses for children, along with activities like face painting and a petting zoo. Additionally, free cotton candy, snow cones, and kettle corn will be available.

Vendor booths will be set up in the parking lot with a variety of goods for sale.

Lebo-Olivet UMC Bible School

Lebo-Olivet United Methodist Church invites children ages preschool to sixth-grade for the 2019-2020 school year to explore where God’s power can take them at To Mars and Beyond Vacation Bible School.
