Laura Rae Ingold, 34, passed away Tuesday, June 11, surrounded by her parents, John and Karla Ingold of Emporia, her fiancé Danny Prater and his mother, Judy Prater, of Louisiana, MO, after injuries sustained in a head on crash with a semi near Mexico, MO Monday, June 10th.
She was moving to Louisiana, Missouri to be with her fiancé, and was to begin working in Clarksville, MO.
Laura was born December 6th, 1984, in Wichita Kansas. The Ingold family moved to Emporia in January 1989. Laura attended Mary Herbert Elementary and Emporia Middle School and graduated from Emporia High. She attended Emporia State University for 2 years.
Laura was a former girl scout, and member of the First United Methodist Church of Emporia. She played the violin. She was an athletic trainer in high school and played softball at EHS. She also played Emporia Energy softball throughout high school.
Laura held various jobs, including a jobber on construction sites, office support at Express Tire & Auto, General Maintenance & Repair Technician at ESU, and later Custodial Supervisor at Emporia State. She was OSHA certified, and was a licensed Pest Control applicator in Kansas.
On March 20, 2018, Laura was engaged to Danny Prater. Wedding plans had begun.
She is survived by her parents; sister, Jenny Ingold of Emporia; fiance; aunts/uncles, Judy Beary, Emporia, Mary and Jerry Bowers, Indiana, Kristina and Mike Ferguson and children Maggie and Sean Ferguson, Overland Park, KS, Leslie Reece & Mike Rupe, Bursen, CA.; as well as cousins and dear friends.
Laura was passionate about animals and rescuing turtles on the road. Memorials are suggested to FEAS (Friends of Emporia Animal Shelter) or the Buck Fund Animal Welfare group.
As an organ donor, Laura was able to give the gift of her corneas.
A very casual Celebration of Life will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at the Bowyer Community Building, Lyon County Fair Grounds, Emporia, KS.
