Homer Wilson

A Eureka man died Friday while in custody at the Greenwood County Jail when he experienced an undisclosed medical issue.

According to a written statement from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, Greenwood County EMS and Eureka Rescue responded to Greenwood County Jail for an inmate — later identified as 35-year-old Homer Wilson — who was having medical issues. Greenwood County Sheriff’s Deputies began CPR prior to the arrival of EMS. He was transported to Greenwood County Hospital by ambulance.

Wilson was later pronounced deceased while at the hospital.

Due to an in-custody death at the Greenwood County Jail, the Kansas Bureau of Investigations responded and will head the investigation to find cause.
