SHAWNEE — Ryan Thomas was concerned about Maranatha Christian Academy’s zone defense heading into Monday’s makeup contest.

The Hartford girls couldn’t find ways through the zone, trailing the majority of the way in a 46-39 loss.

Maranatha went 15-for-18 at the free-throw line in the final quarter to help it to the victory.

“We (couldn’t) do anything,” Thomas said.

Hartford trailed 11-6 after the first quarter and slashed the deficit to 21-18 at halftime. The Jaguars pulled within on at 29-28 at the end of three quarters, but could not take their first lead of the night.

Bailey Darbyshire led the way for Hartford with 16 points.

Hartford (9-9) hosts Rural Vista this evening.
