A body was discovered in a car in the parking lot of 2200 Industrial Rd. Monday afternoon.

Emporia Police Department Sergeant Lisa Sage confirmed that foul play is not suspected in the death.

"We can confirm that someone died today — that's really all that we can say right now," she said.

The case is being investigated, Sage said, as an unattended death.

"An unattended death is when someone is not in the care of a physician within the past 24 hours," she said. "Any kind of death where we work where we find out they were not in a physician's care in the past 24 hours, we will work it to determine if there's anything suspicious about the death."

At this time, the EPD has not released any more information about the death.

Good grief , You can't get much colder talking about the passing of a families loved one, Most likely someone's mother and grandmother being described like a discarded barrel in a parking lot. Piffff. No compassion or empathy by the writer of the article. Is it being assumed the person was a homeless transit or a Emporia citizen? Both still need respect in my opinion. Sympathy to the families and relatives .
