If you were a parent who learned that teachers at your child's school were continuing to work with confirmed cases of influenza, would this bother you, given how hard we've been hit with flu this year?

Yes!

I can understand your concern, bella, and I agree with you. On the other hand, substitute teachers are so difficult to find that they are almost non-existent. What then? Any suggestions?

hi Create....My suggestion? Start flu shots in schools...teachers and students....in September.
I know the vaccine doesn't cover all flu viruses, but it's a start.
I think if the sick people can't stay home, and feel the need to go to school or work, then, those that aren't sick should stay home. Silly? Of course.. but....
I wonder how many people reading this today are working with someone that's sick, and wishing they'd just go home.
Tell them...if they don't go home...you will!!! :-) This flu is really bad!
Just think about it. :-)

LOL..Greenday....I agree...it would be nice to have a job where you could just go home.
I was just making a suggestion...and, I knew it was silly. But, there are a lot of people that can relate to working with sick people...and wishing they would go home.
You're very lucky, and healthy, if you haven't had the flu.
I know there would be a lot of legitimate arguments about mandatory, or even voluntary, flu shots, in schools. I appreciate your thoughts greenday.
I get the flu shots, and am the first in line every year to get one. So far, I've been lucky too.
Create just asked for suggestions...so, I thought I'd toss in a couple.
But....what about the original question posted by bellabrooke. Would you be bothered if teachers were continuing to work, and teaching your kids, while sick?

kskire, what are you, nuts? Your post has nothing to do with the question about flu asked by bellabrooke. By posting indiscriminately, you did nothing to earn respect for your organization.

The Gazette staff has removed the information K.I.R.E. placed on this page. When information is sent to them which involves the people's right to know they refuse to print it saying "the decision involves having enough space" which is just an excuse not to print what they do not agree with. Folks, when a newspaper controls the news we are in danger of losing our freedoms. This is truly frightening.

kskire - create's observation was correct. your posting was ludicrously off topic and inappropriate. you have the opportunity and the right to open a new thread in these forums, just as this thread was opened by bellabrooke. what you did is the same as rudely interrupting the conversation. the gazette was correct in removing your post.

If a teacher has to come to school and teach when they have the flu, they should wear a face mask and one of those anticontamination suits. Any papers graded and handed back should also not be exposed to the germs. People have died of the flu this year and to spread it through carelessness or greed is wrong.
