Is there a reason that the gazette didn't show the whole article about Kent Weiser being cheap on the internet?? Is there a reason that we can't comment on that article because I would guess there would be a lot of people that would like to comment about him.

I read the article. It was actually about how ESU competes with all the big boys in the MIAA despite having the second smallest budget. It was very interesting. I think we are all very lucky to have the coaches we have at ESU, because ESU simply does not have the money that Central Missouri, Pitt, and now, even Nebraska-Omaha. Yet, the Hornets are still winning championships.
As for commenting on the story... Can't you go read the story in the ACTUAL NEWSPAPER and then comment right here like you just did. Have some common sense people. You post a comment about not being able to comment. Do you not see the stupidity in that? Good grief. It's obvious that all you want to do is slam Kent Weiser. If you have a problem, why don't you go talk with Weiser instead of b***hing about him on the internet

The Gazette chose not to publish the full article online because we are, in fact, a business. We have chosen not to hide our online content behind a wall, but we do appreciate folks purchasing the print edition (as do the advertisers in the print edition).
We anticipated that the ESU athletics article would be popular and decided to ask folks interested in it to pay 50 cents to read it. That's a small price to pay for an article, and you actually get the entire paper with other articles you may find interesting.
There now are two forums that our online readers have set up for comments — this one and one in the news forums.
As for not allowing comments on the original teaser article, I don't even want to think what comments the original lead — "ESU athletics director Kent Weiser is cheap. Just ask, he'll tell you." — would have generated.

Yeah, Kent Weiser is cheap--and he has run this athletic department into the ground.

Now forgive me if I read something wrong. But I thought the article was about how the Athletic Program finished better than any other program in the conference and 289 programs nationwide. If that's a program being run into the ground than I would say 289 programs (including Washburn, Pitt and Fort Hays State) have some explaining to do. Because if ESU (which you claim is run into the ground) is indeed grounded, what does that make the other 289 Division II Programs that finished behind them?? Just curious??

bob what are you talking about? ESU had the best all around athletic department in the MIAA last year and was 11th in the nation. Softball NCAA runners-up for the second time in three years, women's basketball MIAA champs and go to the Sweet 16, baseball wins the MIAA championship, men's basketball makes their first ever appearance in the MIAA Tourney championship game, men's and women's track both finish in the top 20 nationally, the volleyball team is #15 in the nation. Who are you comparing the ESU Athletic PROGRAM to? Washburn that finished 37th in the nation overall? Ft. Hays that finished 104th overall? Pitt State that was 106th overall?

You know.... I'm sure The Gazette has back issues available in its front office for 50 cents. And if folks can't afford that, The Gazette is available at the local library.
