I disabled the comment section of the Banking on the Future story because they said little about the story topic (storing stem cells for future medical use) and instead turned into a personal attack on one family and its choices.

I agree wholeheartedly with Gwen that it is totally inappropriate to attack a family. I didn't read any of the comments that she referred to, but if they were inappropriate, they should have been deleted. By the same standard, Gwen should delete Pat Kelley's editorials when he attacks people who have recently died just because he disagrees with the deceased politically (see recent editorial entitled "Jesse Helms, Unchangeable"). All of us, including the Editor, should be respectful and decent toward each other.
