crackinsack
It is you who keeps the smoking ban debate alive and well with remarks such as, smokers have a filthy habit, thereby lumping smokers into the catagory as filthy people who do filthy things. Crack you are the one that will not let the smoking debate alone. I bet you even kick a sleeping dog every chance you get.

Crack, you forget about business leaving town, that was noted as a problem also.

Furthermore, why do you think anyone is going to put any merit into your analogies when others have given you many good analogies in the past and you flippantly ignore them? I for one will disregard any analogy you put forth reasons being twofold. One: your comparisons lack in both scale and common sense. Two: you have chosen to ignore any well laid analogy put before you.

You claim to have done nothing wrong, but putting forth information whether public or not wasn't your business.

To be more precise, here is a good definition for you...

nosey \nosey\ adj.
Offensively or intrusively curious; prying; nosy; as, a nosy
neighbor.

Yes, you can get information if you look, but the real question is, should you?

methusla-

The merits of the smoking ban have been discussed ad nauseum. There is no need to keep reflecting on the past. I am sure you still have hurt feelings over the matter but what is done is done. Let's try and move forward and discuss the topic at hand.

Crack, sorry I couldn't respond but I, like others feel your action was very poor concerning the above article and i.e./ person.
Fist: If she wanted her location given, she should have been the one to do so.
Second: If she wanted police intervention, again, if is up to HER!
Third: I'm not sure how many "People Speak" have been written by various people, do you think they would ALL want their address posted to the world? By the "rules" set forth, you are required to "sign" your name.
Fourth: Please, for once, admit you over stepped bounds by posting such. That again, should be the "choice" of the author and law.
Fifth: Funny how NO one has "RIGHTS" or "CHOICES" but you. You repeatly "down" certain people for their post but yet, we are to accept yours as absolute word. Something wrong with this picture?

Topic at hand.

yev_kessem writes...."The individual is reponsible for his or her own actions, whether that be smoking or drinking or urinating in public." Might I add one more.....outing a woman who obviously didn't want outed just to satisfy her desire for revenge.

crack can cry crocodile tears about how she just wanted to help until the cows come home. But after having read hundreds of her posts by now, I and anyone else with a brain know better. It was revenge...pure and simple.

MisterO (anonymous) says...

So...apparently it's ok to post someone's address and a Google Map to their house because it's public info. I reported the links that crackhead posted, but they are still there.

So...let's find out just HOW ok it is:

Gwen Larson
Rt 2 BOX 134C
Emporia, KS 66801
(620) 342-8202

Chris Walker
2039 Road G
Emporia, KS 6680
(620) 342-1881
http://maps.google.com/maps?li=rwp&q=...

Brandy Nance
1879 RD E M
EMPORIA, KS 66801

Teresa L Walters
2850 Rio Vista Dr
Emporia, KS 66801

Hey...it's public info for anyone who cares to look for it If it's OK for crackhead to do this, we should all be able to, right?

What do you think, Gwen? By not removing crackinsack's post, you are implying that posting public info is ok. How do you feel about it now that your home address has been posted?

I sincerely feel for Erica and hope something can be done. I would hate "my corner of the world" to be tarnished by inappropriate actions of others. Also, her children are a major concern.

I don't know how often Gwen or whoever it is that moderates/checks these forums trolls them looking for inappropriate posts or violations of the Terms, but it is possible that they just haven't checked them for a bit. I sincerely hope that all personal information posted against someone's wishes will be removed as soon as notice is taken of it.

Sandman, I also profess ignorance of many of the shorthands when they first cropped up. Took me awhile to "get in the swing of things", so to speak, and there are still many I'm unfamiliar with, so don't feel bad :). Us old folks that can go more than an hour without texting totally meaninglesss "Yo, what's up" every 30 seconds to our friends just aren't hip enough, I guess - LOL

open_eyes, I so agree concerning "inappropriate" information
within this blog and hope it is removed. I honestly wonder if Erica even KNOWS what has been done or the Gazette staff, county commissioner.

Yes, I did note location of addresses, but really, how could the county commissioner ralley so very hard for the Smoking Ban if she couldn't vote? Regardless of the fact that MANY were not able to vote. "Life is a Wonderment!!" BUT I'll still take the country life!!!!!

Whatever the case, I certainly hope she suffers no retribution due to the unthinking carelessness, or worse, of one of us. One thing for sure...if she does....it will be more due to cracky's precious drinkers.....than her hated smokers.

sandman (anonymous) says...

biscuitboy,
You could be VERY correct concerning Step 2, but sincerely hope SHE keeps it in her world and not in MINE. Just as crack does upon occasion, that would be over stepping boundaries. Also, since Emporia is PART of Lyon County, would not a "revote" make the current ban invalid in Emporia? Would she chance "loseing"? "Time will tell.

August 5, 2009 at 7:21 a.m. ( | suggest removal )

biscuitboy (anonymous) says...

I must (uncharacteristicaly) plead ignorance as to how a county vote would affect a city vote. My gut feeling however might be that the city vote would still stand. My reason for thinking that is that if the opposite were true I think the anti-ban forces would have allready been pushing for a vote of a county ban. You know...nothing to lose...everything to gain.

IF peeing and smoking go so well together why not allow peeing and smoking in bathrooms? I get the DISTINCT impression that crocky IS Teresa. And she does her tirades on grant money time. Since smoking IS allowed outside why not drop by HER house and say howdy, en masse? WHY wasn't the business loss story on the online version? Teresa is NOT the only villain in the pro ban, anti business rights story. The paper and Gwen should be very proud of the part they played in promoting the ban. After all, THEY decided to print ONLY pro ban studies, such as, (the one I like best) that business would soar after a ban. THEY decided to print four days before the election the propaganda of Hellebust out of Topeka, who conveniently disappeared from her office in Topeka til after the election. The paper KNEW that this "study" would influence the election, and they printed it WITHOUT research or questions of any kind. We should expect lunacy and misrepresations from goofballs and grant funded hacks, BUT NOT FROM A NEWSPAPER who, I thought, prided itself on excellance in journalism! To the Gazette, BOTH sides of an issue is what interests readers. And when open mindedness and honesty are required by management of all news employees, you have respect and integrity.

Yes most of this info is public and can be found on numerous social networking sites, but you don't openly discuss someones personal info in a public forum. Good old common sense and manners apply.

In the day and age that we live in, this is reckless and careless. Identity theft is so prevalent these days, this is just irresponsible. Stop being right fighters and go back to the Golden Rules and have some social respect, unless this how you would act without the cover of your screen names. Your all being tools!

'Posting your birthday on Facebook could help identity thieves predict your Social Security number, a new study finds.'

So why didn't you you self righteous old crone. Had you called the police to report the problem all of this could have been avoided. But no...that would not have made crackinsack the center of all this attention. And the attention she is getting from this is the most important thing to her.....not the smoking ban...not Erica's problems.....nor Erica's safety......but the "hey, everybody, look at me."

She loves this stuff and the more we respond to her the more she loves it. It's like these washed up fading movie stars.....bad press is better than no press at all.

You want to hit crackinsack where she lives.....quit responding to anything she says. Ignore her completely....no matter how much she raves...Ignore it. That will drive her over the edge.

We all know where we could have found this girls info and probably more, BUT the difference is that by posting it in this particular thread you have opened up an inevitable Pandora's box. This also applies to the others who so carelessly posted others personal information. iit's called IDENTITY THEFT people and it is catastrophic to your life!

And I guess I still disagree with you...the Chiefs and Royals are not great...BUT the can and will be again. Doesn't make me any less of a fan and if asked I will still go to bat for em over any other team (well the Chiefs at least), but they really have let us fans down the last few years. If our self-centered little lonely girl had really wanted to help her victim she could have called the police and perhaps called their attention to the problem. She might have said something like.....I know where this girl lives and even though its none of my business....maybe you can get her some relief.

I did something very similair to that with a situation in my neighborhood and increased patrols did a lot of good. But other than the police I talked to..nobody else was ever aware of my role at all. That's why this approach would have never occurred to our little lonely girl.

That is why she uses all those derogatory phrases like Jesus freaks to illicit response....and why she never acknowldges any support that might be occasionally offered. To her this is all about her......and we are her unwitting pawns.

Crack, you are a bigger fool then I thought. You seem to delight in putting others information out for the world to see, hasn't it EVER crossed your mind that someone could TRACK you? You seem to think that you can "hide" but in reality, if someone DID want to find you, it WOULD be quite simple, just knowing the proper steps to take. If I were you, I'd watch my "backside". Now, is this a threat? No, I'm only saying reality. I realize at times, you crawl out of that hole, perhaps, you better crawl in and STAY plus keeping your mouth shut and hands still. You are not better then God and he was nailed to the cross according to the bible. You truly don't know who are reading these blogs and you just might set someone off. I'm only trying to warn you to tread lightly, you have set some fires you may not be able to put out.

So Erica might have been making it all up or exagerating......therefore not wise to call the police because it might have been a hoax. So instead we make it easy for any rimjob to find her by posting her vitals all over the place. Vitals rimjob can easily now obtain (remember rimjob is not very bright on his own) since we have done all the work for him.

Now that revenge has been extracted for challenging the wisdom of our precious smoking ban....and we start to catch heat for the callous cruelty of our plan we must fall back to covering our expossed tail section. So now we start crying about how we were only trying to help a poor neighbor in need and look what we've had to suffer for it.

So what was it crackinsack? Was it a hoax that needed to be revealed and revenge extracted....or was it an unfortunate victim of those nasty smokers that needed our kindness and protection? Which one was it.....but it can't be both. Which one? I'm betting it was the first one just like I predicted at the begining.

Which one Crackinsack?

Don't get me wrong about my violence post. I am not one of these gun-hating...everybody just love each other wingnuts. I wish things could be like that, but I have lived long enough to know they are not.

There comes a time when defensive violence may be all you have left. Then you are fool if you don't use it, and a dead fool if you won't. But that is really what I mean't by violence begetting violence. When somebody chooses to settle disputes by turning to violence they invite reciprical defensive violence. That in turn becomes offensive violence...and on and on we go. Soon you have a blood fued...and nobody wins one of those.

open_eyes (anonymous) says...

No crack, I didn't miss a thing. We all know what a flimsy childish ploy your constant "just kidding's" are, and everyone sees right through it except apparently you. I also never miss your constant put-downs and then acting like you were the first to be so chastised, or your constant derogatory stereotypes followed nearly immediately by accusations of others stereotyping (you are constantly reinforcing and cementing your position as the perfect poster child of hypocrisy). It is just stunning, to pretty much everyone here, how totally blind you are to yourself in your own little egomaniacal world. It's amazing how often Emperor Crack looks in the full-length mirror and see's a lavish Superman cape and outfit, while everyone else sees, well..... a whole lotta "crack" (use your imagination there :). And quite humorous at times :)

Sandman, (going to toot my own horn a second just to make a point) - as someone who once won a county and placed fairly well in a state spelling bee, I misspell more often from fat-fingered or sticky-keys or typing in a hurry than actually missing the word. And really don't worry about it much. As you said, I don't feel so small that I have to jump on such petty things and trumpet them as superiority. Besides, my spelling bees were long ago, I'm sure words have gotten much more complex since the simple grunts and that we cave-men used commonly back then (I think my winning word was "Ug", actually - LOL).

It's also true that many non-religious people are some of the most dangerous you will ever encounter. Their total lack of any guiding morals or ethics make them completely evil and untrustworthy in any situation. (Yes, I know how completely stupid and moronic those last 2 statements are, but sometimes you have to drop down to crack's level of constant stereotypes to answer in kind).

You're right, the rope is getting old. I'll start giving crack a shovel so she can dig her hole deeper and deeper.

jcook, many here realize that. Many don't. The point isn't about whether or not anyone can find it if they know how, it was more about decency and respect. See my third paragraph in this post for a better explanation. Some people are just simply clueless. All you can do for them is try to make sure the shovel handles or ropes aren't rotted, because because it's a certainty what they'll do with them, you'd just hate for them to even muck that up :)

Most of us don't like violence, but at times it is necessary, such as war. You have made some super points but also some very human points, points that we need to teach our children. Would be so wonderful if as a world we could all "love" each other but as animals, that is not always possible.

Methusla: While I am opposed to the ban, I fell to see who has been harmed by it:

We smokers? No one has taken away our right to smoke.

The bar owners? It's about survival of the fittest. And in this case, the fittest are those who adapt to change.

Irregardless of my view of the ban, I still contend this is about using what ever is available to attack Crack. And open-eyes, a publicly-listed address is hardly personal information. August 6, 2009 at 1:16 p.m. ( | suggest removal )

methusla (anonymous) says...

crack,
The City Commissioners and County Commissioners have both stated at public meetings that sales tax revenues are down considerabley, which means that part of the drop in sales tax revenues is due to the drop in sales tax from liquor sales from bars, etc. that used to allow smoking, which translates to loss of customers because of the smoking ban. Ask any business owner in Emporia that used to allow smoking, if their business is as good now than it was before the smoking ban.
Also the smokers that used to smoke inside are now forced outside where everyone passing by said smokers are now exposed to the alleged harmful SHS that were not exposed before, hence more people are actually being allegedly harmed by the smoking ban than were ever allegedly being harmed before the smoking ban. There is your proof of harm the smoking ban is causing ! There you have it 2X2=4 ! Were you able to follow that, or is it to complicated for your one track reasoning ?
As far as SHS being proved to be harmful, that proof has been proven by myself and others to be suspect and biased at best !
And jcook66801, my friend ! I do not smoke, have not smoked for over 25 years now, so don't assume anything by my posts. Also I only asked crack a question about her/his statement, " The smoking ban is doing more good than harm and that is indisputable." , cracks words not mine and this statement carries the" conotation " that the smoking ban is benefitting all citizens of Emporia and the City of Emporia itself. Which I happen to disagree, that the smoking ban is in fact doing more good than harm and that it is indeed an indisputable fact !

What exactly is the "good" that has come out of this ban? Logjams break up can arguable be attributed to smoking bans because of bar closings and low numbers at shows in bars which is where they made most of their money. It's going to take a lot of "good" to make up for this. Are the ban proponents going to go to Mudbug and reopen the Nehi soda factory so Chaps can get his job back? Didn't think so! So what is this "good"? Show Logjam the money!

jcook66801 (anonymous) says...

Eyes....yes, it is poor taste. On that we clearly agree. Yes, a street address is public information, unless the owner chooses to make it private. Clearly, Erica has not made that choice. Work schedules are not, however, public information. Companies are under no obligation to release that information. Unlike street addresses, companies don't put that information on the outside of their buildings or print them in books that are distributed to nearly everyone in the community.

Methusla: I doubt that anyone really cares whether you are one of us. It is your position on the ban that matters. You asked Crack, "Can you absolutely prove, without a doubt, with unbiased statistics, that smoking was harming all the population of Emporia and that the quality of life of everyone has been improved by the smoking ban ?" That's not just a question, it is a challenge -- one that cannot be met. Asking someone to do the impossible in an attempt to discredit them is a dirty trick at best and worse, in my opinion, than simply posting an address. If you want honest debate, than play fair. If you want to lie and cheat, then please take it somewhere else.

Had the debate on the ban prior to the vote been approached with facts and not misleading or disinformation, I believe the ban would have failed. Attempts at deception such as yours are the reason we must now take our smokes to the street. Thank you for your help.

And are you at least taking some blame for what ever harm those citizens who are exposed to by the smokers being forced outside, who were not exposed before the smoking ban, as per your comment " Outdoors, more people theoretically could be exposed to the smokers, but the concentration and amount of SHS exposure is miniscule. " Please remember, according to your and the CAEs argument before the ban, was, quote, " there is no safe amount of exposure to SHS, smoking or smokers . " Do you remember that being the main part of your argument for a smoking ban ? Or do you now have some sort of " selective memory loss " ?

The question is not about how to try and shut crackinsack up, or how do we get the ban repealled by beating a deadhorse.

Why don't we all move past the fact that the smoking ban is in place and look for ways to help the businesses through the tough times, regardless of the reason, and why don't we try and help people like Erica deal with the situations at hand and stop trying to blame something that we can't do anything about. Let's move forward. So I ask...

Well, other than get lost in the fine print of how many plants advertise the shift hours, for instance, when publicly posting job ads, you did remind me of a small tidbit I ran across recently about the Tyson plant in Shelbyville, Tenn. They recently opted (union employees only) to trade Labor Day for a Ramadan Holiday. The 2 things that caught my eye most in the article were 1) the decision was a “contractual agreement” rather than a “religious accommodation", (sounds more like a contractual agreement OF a religious accomodation to me, but I have no problem with it actually - I think the workers should be able to modify it for some holidays that they want, I just have to laugh at the wording, and 2) The Tyson Plant in Shelbyville is also the only Tyson facility that has a Muslim Prayer Room for the convenience of its workers.
I guess that means they closed down the Muslim Prayer Room at the Emporia plant, for obvious purposes.

I don't agree that all of this is so far off topic. Erica's original topic was problems she was incurring at her home that she hadn't incurred prior to enactment of the smoking ban. She then blamed the smoking ban for those problems.

A couple of people took exception to Erica's cause-effect scenario...an exception that certainly was not without some merit. Then crack enter the fray and upped the ante...not only in the level of hostility department....but also by
feeling it necesary to broadcast Erica's home address for all to see whether they really wanted to our not.

I believe that makes crack's action very much a part of the topic. Has her action generated an unusually high level of anger towards her.....you bet it has. But if you have been following this thread from its inception......and have seen the pit bull debate tactics frequently employed by her you might better understand the source of the anger.

She has strutted and bragged and rubbed her victory in the face of the losers without remorse with only an occasional "I was only kidding" thrown in when things got to hot.

It may not be right....and it may not be fair......and she has certainly not been the only pit bull...but she is also only getting what she gives so well.

The fact that this issue has been lost in the discussion however is a direct result of crackinsack's action. So the change in topic is totally her fault. Had she not taken the action she did.....the topic would not have been switched.

Everyone of these tragic happenings had a direct correlation to the smoking ban, in one way or another and having to go outside to smoke and one incident was attributed to the smoking ban by the police in a Manhattan, New York nightclub and the cause of Ericas problems !
So crack, admit it , your beloved smoking ban is an absolute and definative trouble maker and causer of harm and stop trying to defend yourself and others for a terrible mistake you made, with stupid logic and comments !

I will admit that all forms of people are killed all the time, everyday and crimes of all sorts are done against all of us everday, but it is becoming apparantly clear that a smoking ban increases the chance of these crimes being committed and has succeeded in making smokers the target of criminals who may be ban smoking zealots and non-smokers, as well as smokers. My point is this smoking ban crusade has and may well have been the cause of an increase in the crime rate of this country !

crack,
Your logic and biased, thinking about discrimination is totally absurd and your comparisons are just plain nonsense. Please read and try to understand and comprehend the following,
dis⋅crim⋅i⋅na⋅tion  /dɪˌskrɪməˈneɪʃən/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [di-skrim-uh-ney-shuhn]
–noun 1. an act or instance of discriminating.
2. treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit: racial and religious intolerance and discrimination.
You and others have definately put smokers in a group, class, or category, therefore that is, by definition, " discrimination ", which, by the way is a violation of federal law !

By the way crack, trying to say that discrimination is only because of skin color, race or religious preference is the only type of discrimination is just plain ingnorant ! And, knowing how your mind works (or fails to) from reading your posts, I also realize nothing will ever convince you otherwise. Spin it all you want but that never even crossed my mind until you brought it up. It was simply a question as to why some people are blasted for faith and others aren't. Personally, I've seen quite a bit of what came out of Wright's mouth at Obama's church and am curious as to why you don't attack that, since you like to belittle Christians so often. I didn't put any words in your mouth. Just repeating what comes out of it. And I've seen it more than once by other posters on other forums in the past as well as the news, and not just about tea parties.

Do your friends know absolutely for sure how you feel about them and their filthy habit of smoking ? If not, then you are not being honest with your friends, not to mention your employer !
And again crack your comparisons of skate boarding, skate boarders and murderers is not the same as smokers and again you insinuate that smokers are murderers , which is again putting smokers in a certain group. Your logic, absolutely defies all logic and common sense !

August 7, 2009 at 3:08 p.m. ( | suggest removal )

open_eyes (anonymous) says...

I see alot of people try to differentiate between someone who says "this should be law because God says so" and people who use their faith to guide their decisions. Seems to me there really isn't much difference between the two. Obama has said in speeches that "The challenges we face today....They are moral problems ... and so the values we believe in.....- these cannot only be expressed in our churches and our synagogues but in our policies and in our laws." Or when his campaign last fall distributed literature that stated "Obama will be a president 'guided by his Christian faith'". Or when he created his White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
You see, those things he refers to..... that he believes in..... justice, compassion for fellow man, etc.... they came from that "storybook of fairytales" you refer to. And Obama openly admits how it has shaped his faith and life. Sounds to me like his "faith is used to make decisions that will impact others". That's different than saying "well, this is what I believe in, it's just a coincidence that things like the Golden Rule also happen to be in a silly fairytale book somewhere, but I'm not doing it because of faith in that".

Now there's a thought: I wonder if crack would find that people wouldn't attack her so much if she quit stereotyping, belittling, name-calling, and generally looking down her nose in contempt at everyone who disagrees with her. They might be nicer to her.

Nah, that would be following something taught in a storybook, and she's much too smart to fall for that.

August 7, 2009 at 3:39 p.m. ( | suggest removal )

methusla (anonymous) says...

First of all, crack, skateboarders are not put into a group of people who kill or murder people, like you seem to want to continually put smokers in a killer or murderer catagory or group, therefore prohibiting skate borders from skate boarding on sidewalks, is not discrimination in a this sense. However, if skateboarders were prohibited from skating on sidewalks, because someone catagorized them as killers or murders just because someone did not like them or what they were doing, then that would be discrimination ! But insinuating that smokers are likened to killers and murders and forcing them out onto the sidewalks because they smoke and referring to them smoking as the being the same as killers and murderers, just because they happen to smoke and you or anyone else doesn' t like it, is discrimination.
second, non-smokers who refer to or insinuate that smokers are killers or murders is a form of discrimination and using the excuse that everything else that has been shown to do as much harm to the general public as smokers, smoking and SHS is necessary or beneficial and singling out smokers to ban from doing what is a lawful activity just because of your beliefs, wants and needs is also discrimination, done by non-smokers !
Now here is a question for you to answer. Why do you insist on comparing and insinuating that smokers should be considered the same as someone who kills and murders, which you have insinuated several times in several of your comments ?

Obama has said QUITE clearly that his morals and ethical values that guide him come from and are based on his religious beliefs, not cultural values. I'd like to be able to say "nice try" here, but it wasn't even that. Clear as day what he said.

And, again..... obeying the law is taught in that "storybook". Tiller's killer was no more following the teachings of the Bible than you follow any cultural values about not constantly stereotyping people.

And besides.... not all of mans or a nations laws deserve to be followed. Slavery was once legal, ya know. If you were a slave, would you put your beliefs in all men are created equal above the nation's law that says someone legally owns you? I'm sure you'd work towards a democratic solution, as I would. Difference is, I think I'd take the first underground train north (breaking man's law). And then work for a solution from there.

biscuitboy..... its not clear to me (my apologies ahead of time) who you are siding with on the "thugs". According to the article, preferential treatment was being shown as to who was allowed in the meeting and who was being kept out (those who did not agree with Obama's view). Is that who you were referring to, or those who were being shut out? Do you mean they were being bussed around, like all the drunks that ACORN would bring to the polls? Would you prefer the townhall meetings be staged, like some have been? I've heard some about the protestors being "organized by the rightwing nuts", and so forth...... but who organizes anti-war marches, pretty much any political rally, etc...??? Who shouted down the minutemen at many colleges? Is that what you meant by keeping anyone with a different opinion from theirs from being heard?

Now...a thug is a thug is a thug...no matter what side of the fence he sets on. But it is accepted by everybody that these groups were...up until a day or two ago.....right wingers to the core...as witnessed by the apporoval and accolades they received from the right. Those are the thugs I was refering to.....and as you so often like to say......they did it first.

I've seen a whole lot of exactly what you describe during the past decade...... by "left-wingers to the core". I even gave a few examples. I've seen quite a few "orchestrated efforts" in a number of areas that, as usual, people are ok with - as long as it agrees with their agenda. If its from the opposing view then they're just "thugs".
And no, I would not say that it is "accepted by everybody". I've seen alot of people (me included) getting pretty fedup with the government ignoring our wishes. And since ABC won't give advertising slots during Obama's speeches to anyone with a different opinion, and pretty much the only network that even dares to routinely expose opposing points of view is regularly derided for doing so...... what do you suggest people do? I don't agree with anyone screaming and yelling and shouting people down. But sometimes our politicians won't listen unless we get loud. \But it seems these days our politicians not only do not listen to us, but opposing views are pretty much not allowed. We watched for 5 years how anyone against the Iraq war was "unpatriotic" (I did not believe that, but those people who wanted us to lose, yes). And quite a few "orchestrated" events surrounding that. But it appears those same people didn't learn the lesson.

You say you care about others ! Truth is you care more about yourself and controlling others, not caring about others ! Futhermore you don' t inform. you try to force everyone to believe and live by your standards and only your standards ! Think about what you say crack ! You say you don' t have a problem with someone doing something. And then say, if you believe that it may cause you harm, ban it, then in the same breath, you say , you would not support a ban on something that causes you and everyone harm because you think it is of some sort of necessary benefit to you.
Your whole problem is one of the inability to make obvious, rational and respectful decisions for yourself about yourself or well being and respect for what others may want and need ! Everything has to be about what you want or need !
All you want, is to control everything and everyone, no matter what or who your controlling attitude does harm to.
If you really cared about making Emporia a better place, you would be trying to do something constructive, like trying to create more jobs, instead of destroying jobs, businesses and others peoples lives and way of living with unnecessary bans.
And my son, daughter, granddaughter, grandsons, great granddaughter visit me quite often, thank you ! Oh, and if you want to start bring family into this, I to can get quite nasty in that respect also and by your starting to bring family into this, just goes to show everyone, just how much of a low, hateful and non-caring person you really are !

FAIRFIELD, IN—After spending five hours at Dunn's Irish Pub on Wednesday night, Michael Sampson, 31, was overheard citing his Big Buck Hunter score as proof of his sobriety, and thus his ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. "I shot the h*ll out of every one of those deer in the background, I didn't kill any does, plus I got bonus points at the end for gettin' those duck b*st*rds," Sampson told bar patrons, staggering as he put down the game's gun-shaped neon-orange controller. "What?" Sam said. "You just can't tell someone that their cat is dead. You have to break it down to them gently. The first time I call you should say that the cat is on the roof trying to catch a bird. The second call you should say that the cat lost its footing trying to catch the bird as it flew away, it fell and now it's at the vet. The third call you should be to tell me that the vet says that it's not looking good for the cat. On the fourth call you let me know that my cat died peacefully in its sleep."

David agreed.

well biscuitboy, I never though we were taking "potshots" at each other in a derogatory way, I do enjoy debating with you as you seem pretty level-headed and sensible in (most - lol) of your views, and even though I get a little steamed under the collar at times, I usually get kicked into the icebox by someone (rightfully so) and cool back down :). And I'm agreeing with you more than you think on some things - but still desagreeing on others. I DO see an "orchestrated effort" to keep opposing points of view suppressed, as I've mentioned some above - but I saw some of the same things in the early years of the war of the last administration. I don't agree with it no matter which side is doing it. And I don't agree with being loud and trying to shout down others. I'm just saying there ARE some honest middle-class citizens that ARE fed up, and it seems like we aren't being heard. Maybe some are part of some insidious conspiracy, but not all. (Maybe someone can tell me how many people were bussed into the Emporia "tea party" by outside backers).
I also wonder how well the public would have received it if Bush had asked Americans: "If you get an email or see something on the web about the Iraq war or WMD's that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov". Might sound innocent enough, I'll bet it would have went over REAL well with the left........ yeah right....... so what's the definition of "fishy" to government (any, not just the current)? Anything that is not the truth? Or........ anything THEY don't declare is the truth? Do YOU trust our government that far?

open_eyes......No...I mean't potshots in a light hearted...not derogatory way. I don't paticularly trust government all that much.....by the same token....I don't particularly distust government all that much either. I don't think they are always working on my best interest, but I also don't believe they are always out to get me or to harm me.

I try to asses each encounter I have with government on an individual basis. I do the same with people I deal with. Some are good...some are bad.....and most are in between.

I do however see what appears to me to be a lot of fear-mongering going on in the right wing. By that I mean the movers and shakers playing on the fears many people have to keep them in the fold....and I believe that is always a dangerous tactic...very prone to backfire.

But I really do have to go to a funeral now......be back this afternoon. Love Ya.....Platonically speaking of course. :-)

Fear mongering goes on on both sides it's just that the side that is doing it never sees it as such. One man's crisis is another man's ................ um .............................. not crisis. I would point out what I currently see as a not crisis being made out as a crisis but the people who actually believe it is a crisis would disagree with me so what's the point really?

Helpful Tips To Make Life Simpler

1. Old telephone books make ideal personal address books. Simply cross out the names and addresses of people you don't know.

2. Fool other drivers into thinking you have an expensive car phone by holding an old TV or video remote control up to your ear and occasionally swerving across the road and mounting the curb.

3. Lose weight quickly by eating raw pork and rancid tuna. I found that the subsequent food poisoning enabled me to lose 12 pounds in only 2 days.

4. Avoid parking tickets by leaving your windshield wipers turned to fast wipe whenever you leave your car parked illegally.

5. No time for a bath? Wrap yourself in masking tape and remove the dirt by simply peeling it off.

6. Apply red nail polish to your nails before clipping them. The red nails will be much easier to spot on your bathroom carpet. (Unless you have a red carpet, in which case a contrasting polish should be selected).

7. If a person is choking on an ice cube, don't panic. Simply pour a jug of boiling water down their throat and presto! The blockage is almost instantly removed.

8. Save on booze by drinking cold tea instead of whiskey. The following morning you can create the effects of hangover by drinking a thimble full of dish washing liquid and banging your head repeatedly on the wall.

Top twenty things to do at a Wendy's drivethru

1. Drive through the drive thru in reverse and let your passenger order.

2. Ask prices of everything on the menu then order something that you did not ask the price for.

3. Pretend like your window is broken. Tell the employee this. Order with your door open, pay with your door open. Roll down window and take food through the window.

4. Go to McDonalds and demand a big breakfast at 11:30 at night. Put up a fight.

5. Pay for a large order in pennies and nickels unwrapped.

6. Order in another language. Be careful what neighborhood you are in.

7. When asked if they can take your order, tell them you are just window shopping and drive on.

8. Laugh sadistically when asked if you would like ketchup.

9. Ask how they fit into that little box.

10. If they make you wait, make them wait when they come back on.

11. Demand to speak to the manager. When he comes on, complain that you did not like the way the employee said "May I take your order?"

12. When asked if they can take your order say "No, why can't I take yours?"

13. If they ask you to wait, order anyway and keep doing it till they yell at you.

14. Pretend like your car broke down. Ask for assistance in moving it. When they come out, drive away.

15. Tell them you have to use the bathroom.

16. Order a cup of water and two napkins. That's it.

17. Don't order when they come on. Just sit there. If a line forms behind you, get out of the car and cause a scene.

18. When they hand you your food, hand them a bag back with all the trash from your car in it.

19. Just stare at them when you pay and get your food. Don't break your stare.

20. Honk your horn the whole way through the line.

I remember the most recent bout of "fear-mongering" before the current health-care scenario. We HAD to pass a humongous pork bill ASAP else the economy would collapse. Thank God it saved the unemployment rate from ever going above 8 or 8.5% (as it was claimed to do). It was so dire that nobody was even allowed to read it - there just simply wasn't time......

And before that, it was a tactic the right used, and before that, the left used it, and before that, the right, then the left, etc, etc, etc.......... (although I think somewhere in there, there was a stretch where the right used it twice in a row, but that was to get even with the left using it 3 times in a row once, etc...... :)

A light-hearted look at history :)

Oh and thank you so much for adding the "platonically speaking". I thought there for a minute I was going to have to tell sandman I changed my mind and am joining the preisthood - LOL :)

Crack asked a simple question. "What can non smokers do that smokers can't?"

Crack, the simple answer is that smokers cannot go into businesses and recreate as they please. This is in spite of the fact that the owners of these businesses have no issue with this practice, and actually PREFER the business of people who smoke. Non smokers can recreate as they please, at the expense of property owners and their ex customers.

You have gotten your wish. Businesses are foundering, less tax collection, people operating at 25% to 60% less income, hours being cut, lay offs, the effect is rippling out into the community.

What part of this causes you SO much joy is beyond me to understand. Only a true sicko enjoys the pain of others.

As through the mid 60's to early 70's I had several machines of the rumbling, rumpity-rump idle, tire smoking variety that I either built or purchased, such as a 1937 chevrolet pick up with a rather stout chevy 327 cu. in. engine, a factory 1967 Ford Fairlane GT with a really strong 390 cu. in. H.O. engine, a 1969 Plymouth GTX, 440 cu. in. six pack that would nail you back to the seat when you got on it hard ! Ah yes those were the days, high horsepower and now worry about gas mileage and you could fill your 20 gal gas tank for around 15 bucks or less !

Well that's if you call a highway patrol package totally stock. Then a 55 chevy with a reworked 327.

Later on my need for speed was satisfied by a few years of playing around with roundy-round dirt trackers down in Arkansas. Those were the days my friend.

The cheapest gasoline I can remember was less than a quarter a gallon. I can remember coming home from the navy on leave, borrowing dad's car, putting two dollars in the tank and driving around all night long.
