Well, that's interesting ksdovehunter,

Now that I have bad mouthed the city manager, city police chief, and a state trooper as well as others, on here I wonder how smoothly my license renewal, (If I decide to renew), will sail through the city? Not worried to much, it's never been a problem before.

bad form, ksdovehunter. If you'll do that to one of us, you'll do that to all of us. Whether or not you are correct, I am surprised that Gwen let your post stand. I see you chose a holiday weekend to post it.

I believe that the online media is promoting our democracy by hosting a forum where civil and intelligent discourse on issues can take place. I also believe that people will feel more secure in stating an honest opinion if they are allowed to do so behind a pseudonym.

Ever hear of the Federalist Papers? They were a series of 85 articles advocating the ratification of the United States Constitution. Although we now know who the writers were, at the time, they were written anonymously. Where might we be without those letter writers? What better time than the 4th of July for you to look that up.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federali...

When public discourse ceases to be civil, when people stop being rational, or start being destructive, when people can no longer freely discuss their differences in a civil fashion, then our democracy begins to erode. Worse yet, we become more easily manipulated -- ever witness when things start to unravel on the forum and attacks run rampant?

Some people do use their names on the forum. Steve Corbin does. I myself let my name out of the bag during the Somali disturbance when I along with one other poster called for a city meeting, and I wanted that to be all above board. Hundreds appeared that night. Most people have since forgotten who I am and that works for me too.

In a nutshell, dovehunter, you have no right to reveal who posters are unless you have some kind of hidden agenda.

create,

It very well could be a prank post, but it is against the rules on this site. Oh Well.

I may need the Gazette to publish a clarification on the beer garden story. For some reason some of my customers last night were under the impression they could carry their drinks outside while having a smoke.Their reason was "Well the Gazette said".

You don't know how many times I had to ask people "Do you take everything published in the Gazette as fact?"

As of now it is still illegal to drink outside your favorite wateringhole unless they have a patio connected.

Hope to see everyone at the small, but patriotic parade at noon, downtown. We will be handing out flags, while supplies last. And more to do at the Farmers Market this afternoon, there are things to do in Emporia today.

I've thought about this for a while, and I personally feel CAE is not trying to "protect employees health," I think they are trying to exterminate all waitresses and bartenders, and here's how.

Instead of working in a place where they are exposed to second-hand smoke with a minute (my-noot, crackinsack) chance of carcinogens, they are trying to quickly starve them all to death by taking their jobs!

You have all been made aware! Its a conspiracy to commit genocide by some of the (self-proclaimed) highest levels in Emporia and its government! Stop this now! No genocide or exterminations in Emporia!

Well hello hello people its been a while. First things first, everyone did good for a while on ignoring crackedinthehead, lets go back and keep doing that for a while longer.
Now i read something about "exposed to the elements". Great one more way for people to get sick.
Next, I know most people like to have a good time while drinking, but i also know it only take one guy/girl who had one to many to turn the place into "Beat my face in 2009" by insulting a patron, or in the sidewalk instance a person who is just walking by.
Also how does this affect businesses that already have a beer garden? Club Orleans, Beer Thirty, ect. Does the 20% change anything?
YY4U (my-noot, crackinsack) Not unlike McDonalds i'm lovin it.
Just let the smoking ban die. I am a smoker and like most of you, I was outraged when the ban was proposed and more so when it passed. However, it did pass. Now we have a new case to "investigate". Lets try to stick to the topic at hand, after all we finally have something new to hear crackedinthehead complain about.
Methulsa liked your argument about the pharmacy (pretty sure it was you) and the transportation hazards that "serve a purpose".
Rbow I appreciate that you put away your smoke when you saw children passing by, i was on the otherside of the rode walking with my wife and son. damn decent thing to do, too bad Walters couldnt see a smoker actually limiting exposure to a non-smoker, might have changed her whole perspective on EVIL SMOKERS. lmao. just kidding, ha ha but not really. But i digess...
