Anniversary: Thompson

Richard and Velma Thompson of Emporia will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Thursday. They were married in Lyon County and have remained lifelong residents of Emporia.
Their children are Mark and Shirley Payne of Houston, Texas, and Terry and Marcia Thompson of Emporia. The Thompsons have four grandchildren, Jeremy and Patrick Payne and Brandon and Kimberly Thompson.
The family said “in honor of the special day, a card shower would be most welcome.”

Anniversary: McClenny and McClenny

Dan C. and Mary Anna McClenny of Emporia celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary June 20. They were married in 1944 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia.
The McClennys’ five children and their spouses are: Gail and Diane Post of Odessa, Texas, Patricia McClenny and Rocky Wilson of Mancos, Colo., Dan McClenny and Dolores Mazurkewicz of Hesperus, Colo., Michael and Kathrine McClenny of Durango, Colo., and Laura McClenny of Atec, N.M. Their grandchildren are Dr. Catherine Nutt, Christopher Post, Michael McClenny and Megan McClenny. Their three great-grandchildren are Quentin and Conner Nutt and Keira Post.
The McClennys plan to celebrate their anniversary with the family this summer at Creede, Colo.

Anniversary: Glover and Glover

John and Margaret Glover of Madison will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Madison United Methodist Church. There will be a PowerPoint presentation of memories presentation at 3 p.m.
Hosts will be their children and families: Mark and Lisa Glover of Emporia, Bradley and Sheri Glover of Whitewater, Steve and Donna Glover of Peabody and Brian and Crystal Helten of rural Garden Plain. Their grandchildren are Ashley, Alyssa and Chelsie Glover, Zachary and Kerri Glover and Johnathan and Jefferson Glover.
Margaret Ann Schwindt and John Gail Glover were married June 21, 1959 at the Calvary EUB Church on Ninth Avenue and Commercial Street in Emporia.
John Glover worked in education 33 years as a teacher, elementary school principal and superintendent of schools and 14 years in the dairy department of Reeble’s Grocery. He now drives for the Madison Senior Transportation. Margaret Glover was a teacher, substitute teacher, legal secretary and has worked 24 years in the nursing home industry as a secretary, medical records designee, bookkeeper and administrative assistant. She presently works for Citizens State Bank.
The honored couple said “Your presence is the only gift requested.”
