Wedding: Williams and Bassett
Shanna Williams and Jacob Bassett were married Dec. 31, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Burlington. The Rev. David Livingston officiated at the evening ceremony.
The maid of honor was Devanee Williams, sister of the bride. The best man was Josh Bassett, brother of the bridegroom. The bride’s other attendants were Kristen Larson, Heather Carpenter, Lauren Padgett and Jessica Yunker. The groomsmen were Drew Tabor, Jerod Junghans, Chris Dupree and Jered Wheeler. The flower girl was Marley Heins; the ring bearer was Nolan Redeker. Candle lighters were Marissa Beyer and Hannah Wheeler. The ushers were Blake Williams, Levi Worrell, Nate Johnson and Eric Peterson. Guestbook attendants were Abby Bowen and Jennifer Redenius. The wedding musicians were Devanee Williams, harpist; and Kari Gales and Shane Britt, vocalists.
The wedding reception was at the Guesthouse Inn in Emporia. The rehearsal dinner, catered by Olpe Chicken House, was at the Burlington United Methodist Church.
The bride graduated from Burlington High School and Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree. She works at KU Endowment.
The bridegroom graduated from Junction City High School, from Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree in communication and from Wichita State University with a master’s degree in sport management. He works for the Tampa Bay Rays of Tampa, Fla.
She is the daughter of Dale and Roselle Williams of Burlington.
He is the son of Gale and Kathy Bassett of Junction City. He is the grandson of Bill and Della Schnackenberg of Bella Vista, Ark.
Engagement: Heisman and Brunson
Cristi Heisman and Bart Brunson of Terry, Miss., announce their engagement.
Heisman is a graduate of Paola High School in Paola and a senior at the University of West Alabama.
Brunson graduated from Terry High School and from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a degree in agribusiness.
She is the daughter of Karey Farrar Oliver of Osawatomie and Rick Heisman of Paola. She is the granddaughter of Virginia Farrar of Reading and the late Bob Farrar.
He is the son of Barry and Ellen Brunson of Terry, Miss.

Engagement: Buchman and Antes
Fred and Sharon Gaede and Carl and Shirley Antes of Emporia announce the engagement of their children, Jamie Buchman and Dylan Antes.
Buchman graduated from Emporia High School and Vernon’s School of Cosmetology. She is the manager of Picture Me Portrait Studio.
Antes graduated from Emporia High School and Flint Hills Technical College. He works for Mitchell Markowitz Construction.
The couple plan to marry Sept. 19, 2009, at the Emporia Granada Theatre.
Engagement: Herbert and Nixon
Amy Nicole Herbert of Olathe and Christopher Conway Nixon of Overland Park announce their engagement.
Herbert graduated from the University of Kansas with a master’s degree in elementary education. She is a teacher at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School.
Nixon graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He is a district manager with ADP.
She is the daughter of Jerry and Carol Herbert of Olathe.
He is the son of John and Nancy Nixon of Ouray, Colo.
The couple plan to marry July 25, 2009 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overland Park.
Engagement: Amend and Rubio
Douglas and Marged Amend of Emporia and Raul Ortega and Bertha A. Rubio of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, announce the engagement of their children, Sabra Amend and Ramon Ortega Rubio.
Amend graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and will attend veterinary school.
Rubio graduated from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico. He is a software engineer working in information technologies.
The couple plan to marry July 18, 2009, at Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
Engagement: Taylor and Baucher
Ken and Brenda Taylor of Emporia and Doug and Merrie Baucher of Smith Center announce the engagement of their children, Rachel Taylor and David Baucher.
Taylor and Baucher attend Washburn University and will graduate in May 2010. She will receive a degree in elementary education. He will receive a degree in history education.

Engagement: Agler and Medrano
Bob and Marcia Agler of Emporia announce the engagement of their daughter, Callie Agler, to Brook Medrano, son of Van Johnson and B. Kay Medrano of Emporia.
Agler spent the past several years singing in Nashville and Branson and currently works for Emporia Motors, Inc.
Medrano graduated from Fort Hays and is the head wrestling coach at Pratt Community College in Pratt.
The couple plan to marry Sept. 12, 2009, outside at the bride’s parents’ home.
Engagement: Harlan and Bozarth
Former Emporians Rick and Mary Harlan of Atlantic, Iowa, announce the engagement of their daughter, Casey Joan Harlan, to Andrew Jonathan Bozarth, son of Jeff and Sheryl Bozarth of Springfield, Mo. She is the granddaughter of Keith and Joan Harlan of Atlantic and Frank Casey of Griswold and the late Kathryn Casey. He is the grandson of Barbara Mount of Kansas City, Mo., and Richard Bozarth of Springfield, Mo., and the late Joan Bozarth.
Harlan and Bozarth graduated from Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, Mo. She is the financial assistance coordinator for Bryan College in Springfield, Mo. He is an account executive with the ABC affiliate station, KSPR.
The couple plan to married July 11, 2009, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa.
