George and Stella Free celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Pennsylvania and a family dinner.
Their sons and daughter-in-law are William Free of Emporia and Kenny and Nancy Free of Red Oak, Iowa. Their grandchildren are Nathan Free of Wichita and Johnathan and Becca Free of North Pole, Alaska.
Stella Gilligan and George Free were married Oct. 26, 1957, at St. Joseph Parish in Topeka.
George Free is a retired carpenter. Stella Free retired from the Emporia Police Department after 36 years of service. The Frees stay at Council Grove Lake during summer, where they work as gatekeepers.
