Anniversary: Elliott

Carl and Jean Elliott will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Old Hartford Community Center. Hosts will be their children, Connie Wood and Wayne Elliott. The Elliotts have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Carl and Jean Elliott were married on Nov. 29, 1957, at South Denver Baptist Church in Denver, Colo.
Carl Elliott served four years with the U.S. Air Force, 1954 through 1958. After his military service, he became partners with his father in farming in the Hartford area before he retired in 1999.
The Elliotts were foster parents for several years. Jean Elliott worked at the Hartford Training Center for many years. She also did some volunteer work at the Hartford Senior Center. She then worked for the Elmendaro Township Library in Hartford as an assistant librarian until she retired in 2003. They moved to Emporia in 2003.
The family said, “The only gift requested is your presence.”

Anniversary: Burch

Former Emporians Jim and Janice Zug Burch of Grand Junction, Colo., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary early with a family party in July at their cabin on the Grand Mesa in Colorado. They return in mid-November from an anniversary trip to Africa.
Their children are Paul and Kelly Burch Molaskey of St. Louis, Mo., and Barry and Sue Burch Chamberlain of Grand Junction, Colo. Their grandchildren are Katy and Maggie Molaskey of St. Louis, Mo., and Ryan and Sarah Chamberlain of Grand Junction, Colo.
Janice Zug and Jim Burch were married Nov. 23, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. Both graduated from Emporia High School.
Jim Burch served in the Marine Corps and taught at Emporia High School. He had a 30-year career in pharmaceutical sales and management with ParkeDavis. Jan Burch has been a lifelong environmental educator and activist.

Anniversary: Jenkins

H. Lloyd and Patricia “Patty” Jenkins of Emporia will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion. Hosts will be their daughters and sons-in-law, Joe and Amy Golden and Floyd and Tammy Thomas; their grandchildren, Alec Arellano, Hannah Arellano, Emma Golden, Aubrey Golden, Gracie Golden, Bryant Golden, Erin Golden, Taylor Thomas and Logan Thomas; and Patricia Jenkins’ cousin, Charlene Seefeldt, who is preparing the anniversary cake.
Patricia L. Hase and Harry Lloyd Jenkins were married Nov. 18, 1967, at Westside Baptist Church in Emporia.
Lloyd Jenkins worked for Otasco for 12 years and is presently employed at Crawford’s Furniture, where he has worked for 28 years. Patricia Jenkins is a homemaker.
