Anniversary: Kitzenberger

Former area residents Dean and Mary Lou Kitzenberger of El Dorado celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 5 at a private dinner given by their family. Hosts were their children Kim Haig, Scott Kitzenberger and Kristi Zogleman and their spouses.
Mary Lou Nail of Emporia and Dean Kitzenberger of Americus were married May 5, 1957, at Grace Methodist Church in Emporia. Dean Kitzenberger retired in 2001 after 42 years with the Kansas Turnpike Authority, where he was structures superintendent. Mary Lou Kitzenberger has been a registered nurse for 49 years and still works part-time for an El Dorado doctor.
The couple have eight grandchildren, Nathan Haig, Caitlin Haig, Nicholas Haig, Brittany Kitzenberger, Kindra Kitzenberger, Caleb Zogleman, Maren Waits and Joe Waits.

Anniversary: Gatewood and Roy and Kay Gatewood

Roy and Kay Gatewood will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary at a reception given by their daughters and their families from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Americus Masonic Lodge at the corner of main and Broadway streets.
Laura Kay Richards and Roy John Gatewood were married May 20, 1967 at the Dora Church of Christ in Dora, N.M. He is a a graduate of Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia and did graduate work at Kansas State University before serving in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot. After his service he worked for Cablevision in Emporia and at Sauder Industries. He now works at the Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station. Kay Gatewood, a graduate of Dora (N.M.) High School, attended Lubbock Christian College. She has been a homemaker and also worked at Wal-Mart and as a paraprofessional in the Emporia Schools.
Hosts for the reception are their daughters, Ginger Flood, Alison Malm and Roanna Fultz and their families.
The Gatewoods have nine grandchildren, Amber Flood, Angelina Flood, Cheyenne Savage, Chelsea Savage, Christina Morris, Trinity Malm, Parker Schultz, Dagan Fultz and Boden Fultz.
The Gatewoods request no gifts.
