Engagement: Brazeal and Payne
Robert and Luella Brazeal of Shawnee announce the engagement of their daughter, Stacey L. Brazeal, to Christopher Scot Payne, son of Stephen and Carol Riegert of Lake Ozark, Mo.
She is the granddaughter of Ruth Eccles-Sumner of Emporia and former Emporian Rose Brazeal of Shawnee.
Brazeal graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. She works for American Fidelity Insurance Company.
Payne attended Missouri University and works for Odessa Ford Chrysler Dodge Jeep.
The couple plan to marry Sept. 2, 2007, in Key West, Fla. The wedding reception will be held Sept. 15, 2007, in Sheraton Overland Park.
Wedding: Peckman
Andrea Williams and Steve Peckman were married June 23, 2007, at Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mic McGuire officiated at the afternoon ceremony.
The bride’s personal attendants were her sisters, April and Ariel Williams. Ushers were Sid and Jimmie Rhodes. The guestbook attendant was Whitney Trowbridge.
The wedding reception was at the church. Kara Kai Kirton was the gift attendant.
The couple took a honeymoon trip to the islands of Maui and Oahu, Hawaii.
The bride is a student at Emporia State University and plans to graduate in May 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting. She works at Commerce Bank and Trust.
The bridegroom graduated from Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree in communications. He works at Starbucks.
She is the daughter of Mike and Judy Williams of Emporia. She is the granddaughter of Eugene and Jo Williams of Emporia and Elmer and Louise Swift of Strong City.
He is the son of Lymann and Yvonne Peckman of Prairie Village.
Engagement: Verbrugge and Watkins
Former Emporians Jon and Jeanie VerBrugge of Olathe announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer VerBrugge, to Greg Watkins, son of William and Susan Strom of Virginia Beach, Va.
VerBrugge graduated from Olathe South High School and Ottawa University with a bachelor’s degree in business. She works at SkillPath Seminars.
Watkins graduated from Belton High School and attended Missouri Southern State College. He is an automotive paint technician.
The couple plan to marry Sept. 22, 2007, at the First Christian Church in Olathe.
Wedding: Corby
Heather Stauffer and Clint Corby were married June 23, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Darren Henson officiated at the afternoon ceremony.
The bride’s attendants were Sarah Vopata, Jessica Darbyshire, Katie Stauffer and Whitney Stauffer, sisters of the bride, and Gina Hammersmith. The best man was Chris Corby, brother of the bridegroom. The groomsmen were Chris Mangels, Brian Thrasher, Shane Weiszbrod and Marshall Nienstedt. The usher was Michael Stauffer, brother of the bride. Annie and Allie Grammar were the guestbook attendants.
The wedding reception was at the Travel Lodge motel.
The couple took a wedding trip to Maui, Hawaii, and live in Haviland.
The bride graduated from Emporia High School and Emporia State University. She teaches fourth-grade at Haviland School.
The bridegroom graduated from Emporia State University and Baker University. He is the principal at Haviland School.
She is the daughter of Denise Stauffer of Emporia and Steve Stauffer of Missouri. She is the granddaughter of Kathy Polzin and Bob and Rose Stauffer of Emporia.
He is the son of Pam Corby of Larned. He is the grandson of Gladys Rogers of Wichita.
Engagement: Walker and Schmitt
Former Emporia resident Tyson Matthew Schmitt and Ashley Nicole Walker of Olathe announce their engagement.
Walker graduated from Olathe South High School and Johnson County Community College with a degree in interior design. She will complete her business degree at UMKC. She is a merchandiser in the Design Gallery at Nebraska Furniture Mart.
Schmitt graduated from Emporia High School and Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing. He is a financial consultant with Bank of the West in Shawnee.
She is the daughter of Becky Walker and the late Gary Walker of Olathe.
He is the son of Tom and Patty Schmitt of Glenwood, Iowa.
The couple plan to marry Sept. 8, 2007, at Leawood.
