Anniversary: Dudrey
Lawrence and Ann Dudrey of Hartford recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. Hosts were their children from out of state, Leslie and Christy Dudrey of Liberty, Mo., and Rob and Ardyth Stone of Hershey, Pa.; and their children from Kansas, Calvin and Debbie Dudrey of Preston, Raymond and Sharon Martin of Madison, and Ralph and Debbie Hackler of Hutchinson. The Dudrey’s have 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Anniversary: Maley
Alvin “Pete” and Nadine Maley will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Saturday in the Emporia home of their son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Teresa Maley. Their other son is Lance Maley of Worland, Wyo. Their grandchildren are Nathan and Sara Olson and Scott and Ashley Maley, all of Kansas City; Jillian Maley and her fiancé, Jason Martin of Seattle, and Kyler Maley of Worland, Wyo.
The Maleys were married Aug. 17, 1947, in Garnett at the home of Nadine Maley’s mother.

Anniversary: Birk
Vernon and Beverly Birk of Gridley will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Gridley Community Center. Hosts will be their children, Scott and Judy Birk and Dan and Megan Dechant of Overland Park, Chris and Leslie Birk of Emporia and Jim and Melanie Smiley of Stilwell. Their grandchildren are Sarah, Stephanie and Tyler Smiley, Kristen and Bailey Birk, Andrew, Erin and Stewart Birk, Taylor, Jack and Lexi Dechant. They have one great-grandson, Gage Birk.
The children also treated their parents to a trip on July 22 to the Tan-Tara Resort in Missouri, where Vernon and Beverly Birk went parasailing for the first time.
The Birks were married July 27, 1957, in Gridley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Wayne Castle officiated at the ceremony.
They are lifelong residents of the Gridley area. Vernon Birk was engaged in farming for many years and retired in 2004 after completing 16 years as Coffey County Clerk. Beverly Birk is self-employed as a painter and paper hanger.
