Anniversary: Logan

Former Emporians Martin and Lorene Stotler Logan of Broken Arrow, Okla., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Dover Federated Church Fellowship Hall. Hosts will be their children, Jim and Linda Nymeyer of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Dan and Janet Duryea of Topeka, along with their five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Martin Logan graduated from Dover High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Lorene Logan graduated from Noel High School in Noel, Mo. She served in the Cadet Nurse Corps for two years at Newman Hospital in Emporia during World War II. The couple met in Emporia when he returned home from the war.
Lorene Stotler and Martin Logan were married Sept. 29, 1946, in Emporia at the home of her brother, Claire Stotler.
Martin worked for International Harvester for several years in Manhattan, Emporia, Arkansas City and Burlingame. He retired from Didde Glaser, Inc., in Emporia in 1980 after 22 years of service.
Lorene worked at Sears Catalog Sales and Newman Hospital. She then worked 15 years in the Child Nutrition department of Broken Arrow public schools.
They moved to Broken Arrow in 1980 so they could attend Rhema Bible College, where they graduated in 1982. They were pastors of a church in Mankato, for a short time before they returned to Broken Arrow to serve in the Helps Ministry.

Anniversary: Jackson

Russell and Evelyn Jackson of Strong City celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 9 and 10 at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Overland Park. Hosts for the party were their children, Larry and Sharon Jackson of Kansas City, Mo., Jerry and Sallie McNee of Stilwell and Dale and Joyce McCabe of Emporia. Also attending were the Jackson’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The group had dinner Saturday evening at the hotel and had a family photograph taken Sunday.
Others attending were Mike and Shauna McCabe and Savannah of Denton, Texas; Wesley McNee and Cristen Burrell of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Mike and Stacy Terril and Jackson of Prairie Village; Chris and Heather Jackson, Grace and Lily, of Overland Park; Jerriann McNee and Anthony Yorkovich of Linwood; and Eric McCabe of Emporia.
Margaret Evelyn Smith and John Russell Jackson were married Sept. 25, 1946, at the Methodist parsonage in Strong City in a double wedding ceremony with Dale Martin and Wilma Little.
Russell Jackson is a veteran of World War II. He was a signal maintainer for the Santa Fe Railroad. Evelyn Jackson, a homemaker, also worked in a dry goods store. Both are active members of the Strong City United Methodist Church.

Anniversary: Hayes

Larry G. and Betty A. Hayes celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Sept. 24 with a reception at the New Life Christian Church in Emporia. The couple renewed their dedication to each other by repeating the vows from their Sept. 26, 1981, wedding at Southwest Christian Church in Topeka. Hosts for the reception were their children, Stephanie Lindsay of Alexandria, Va., and Shawn and Jody Lindsay and Dustin Hayes of Joplin, Mo. Also assisting with the reception were their grandchildren, Brittany and Levi Lindsay.
Betty Lindsay and Larry Hayes met when they worked for the State of Kansas Department of Administration in Topeka. They moved to Emporia in 1985 and both work at Emporia State University. They also operate a farm northwest of Americus.

Anniversary: Walford

Charles Joe and Evelyn Walford will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary Oct. 3. They were married Oct. 3, 1951, at Bentonville, Ark.
Their children request a card shower, with cards to be sent to Box 212, El Dorado, KS 67042. Their children are Robert and Kathy Seaman and Patrick and Stephanie Parker of Lawrenceville, Ga., Jerald and Linda Walford of Omaha, Neb., and Ed and Terri Wilkey of Duluth, Ga. The Walford’s have nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
