Wedding: Engle

Lauren Kauffman and Jason Engle were married Aug. 5, 2006, at the First Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Mark Henson officiated at the evening ceremony.
The maid of honor was Cassy Huff. The best man was Kyle Satterfield. The bride’s other attendants were Jennifer Vilander, Kaitlin Fillipi and Jami Heins. The groomsmen were Josh Billings, Caleb Comstock and Thomas Vehige. Morgan Kauffman, sister of the bride, was the flower girl. L. J. Murphy was the ring bearer. Candlelighters were Anne Murphy and Christina Henson. Ushers were Daniel Kauffman, brother of the bride, and Chad Henson. The wedding musicians were Courtney Brooks, Angie Davis and Jason Brooks. Stacy Engle, sister of the bridegroom, was the guestbook attendant.
The wedding reception was in the Potter-Beath Activity Center at the church. Reception attendants were Jessica Knight, Lesli Knight, Cheyenne Shirley and Cindy Shirley. The rehearsal dinner was at the Travelodge Restaurant.
The couple took a honeymoon trip to Hawaii and live in Olathe.
The bride and bridegroom graduated from Emporia High School and attend Mid-America Nazarene University.
She works for Shining Stars Days Care Center and he works for UPS, both in Olathe.
She is the daughter of Ken and Erin Kauffman of Emporia. She is the granddaughter of Karen Kiene of South Bend, Ind., and Kenneth and Ann Kauffman of Wakarusa, Ind.
He is the son of Max and Kate Engle of Emporia. He is the grandson of Charles and Louise Edmonson of Herington and Evan and Winifred Engle of Hope.

Engagement: Matile and Andersen

Paula Andersen and Gene Matile announce their engagement to be married at 3 p.m. Oct. 21, 2006, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Council Grove. A dinner and dance reception will be at 5: 30 p.m. at Community Center in Swope Park at Cottonwood Falls.
Andersen is the daughter of Marvin and Peggy Andersen of Redlands, Calif., and formerly of North Dakota.
Matile is the son of the late Daniel H. and Teresa “Tiny” Matile of Elmdale.

Wedding: Devena

Kaylene DeAnne Bird and Kyle Scott Devena of Burlington were married May 20, 2006, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence. Matthew Podszus officiated at the afternoon ceremony.
The matron of honor was Jennifer Waller of Burlington. The best man was Craig Devena, brother of the bridegroom. Scott Bird and Blake Hanson, brothers of the bride, were ushers.
The couple took a honeymoon trip to St. Lucia and live in Lawrence.
The bride is finishing her last year at the University of Kansas where she is studying for a bachelor’s degree in secondary English language. She will begin her student teaching and studying for a master’s degree in May.
The bridegroom graduated from the University of Kansas with a master’s degree in accounting. He works at BKD, an accounting firm in downtown Kansas City.
She is the daughter of Brian and Tammi Hanson of Burlington and Todd Bird of Phoenix, Ariz. She is the granddaughter of Larry and Patricia Howard, Carlton and Nancy Bird of Emporia and Harry and Deborah Hanson, all of Emporia, and Gene and Martha Taylor of New Strawn.
The bridegroom is the son of Stan and Janice Devena of Burlington. He is the grandson of Nadine Alford of Lawton and the late Ernst Alford and the late Hank and Verle Devena.

Engagement: Nuessen and Parkin

Sarah Parkin and Tim Nuessen announce their engagement.
Parkin graduated from Wichita State University with a bachelor’s degree and is now completing her master’s degree in the physician assistant program at WSU.
Nuessen is an electrician for Electri-tech of Wichita.
She is the daughter of Coburn Jr. and Mary Ann Parkin of Williamsburg.
He is the son of Bob and Lois Cox of Madison and Joseph and Kim Nuessen of Olpe.
The couple plan to marry Dec. 16, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe.
