Anniversary: Mikulecky
J.K. “Mik” and Sharon Mikulecky will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Faith Lutheran Church at 15th Avenue and Trailridge Road. Hosts will be their son and daughter, J.K. Mikulecky Jr., of Emporia and Merridy Heard of Wilson. They have three grandchildren: Nisha Trevino of Bushton, Mara Duffey of Manhattan and Linette Duffey of Hutchinson. They have two great-grandsons, Zane and Kenyon.
Sharon Wamhoff and J.K. Mikulecky were married Nov. 25, 1956, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Holyrood. The Rev. O.F. Henning officiated at the ceremony.

Anniversary: Schoenberger
Russell and Jean Schoenberger recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Las Vegas, Nev., where they saw two shows. Earlier, this summer, they celebrated with a large family gathering at Garden City Beach, S.C., with all of their children, children’s spouses and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean Schoenberger retired from the Food Service Department of the Emporia public schools. Russell Schoenberger retired from the city of Emporia as planning and development director.
They were married Oct. 27, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Church in South Mound.
Their children are Russell and Dee Dee Schoenberger of Austin, Texas; Karl and Renee Schoenberger of Winston Salem, N.C.; Karen Schoenberger of Pratt; and Michael Schoenberger and Jon and Nancy Pool of Emporia. They have eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Anniversary: Lorene Brown and Brown
The Rev. Harold Brown and Lorene Brown are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Council Grove Christian Church, 106 E. Main St., in Council Grove. Hosts will be their children, Brian and Pam Wilcox of Berthoud, Colo., Sharon and Ron Brown of Morrowville, Greg and Shari Brown of St. George and Rob and Debbie Hughes of Hoyt. The Browns have 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Lorene Osborne and Harold Brown were married Nov. 26, 1956, at the Council Grove Christian Church. He is pastor of the Wilsey Christian Church. She is a piano teacher.
