Wedding: Lawson and Francis
Katherine Renee Francis and David Blaine Lawson were married July 1, 2006, at the First Congregational Church. The Rev. Chad Poland officiated at the afternoon ceremony.
The maid of honor was Angela Combes. The best man was Travis Hudnal. The bride’s other attendants were Tiffany Francis, Connie Brummett, sister of the bridegroom, Ashley Brown, Melinda Mitchell and Lesli Rhoads. The groomsmen were Jeremy Francis, brother of the bride, Tyler Brummett, Aaron Holle, Dustin Buchanan and Camron Weisendorser. The flower girl was Ryan Jones; the ring bearer was Nolan Francis. Candlelighters were the mothers of the couple, Lisa Francis and Tracy Lillibridge. Christopher Brown and Darren Joy were the ushers. Anne Atherton was the wedding musician. The guestbook attendant was Kimberlynn Pham. Cynthia Leniton and Myra Jones were the flowers and decorating attendants.
The wedding reception and rehearsal dinner were at the Best Western Hospitality House. Jacqualynn Pham was the gift attendant. Taos Lynam was the music attendant.
The couple took a honeymoon trip to Cancun and live in Great Bend.
The bride graduated from Emporia High School and Flint Hills Technical College with a dental assistant degree. She works for USD 428.
The bridegroom graduated from the Christian Academy at Syracuse and works for Golden Plains Trucking.
She is the daughter of Jerome and Lisa Francis of Emporia. She is the granddaughter of Betty McMurphey of Emporia and Le Phan of Carrolton, Texas.
He is the son of Bart and Tracy Lillibridge of Syracuse and David and Sheila Lawson of Montezuma.
Engagement: Garrett and Blevins
Terry and Lisa Garrett of Burlington announce the engagement of their daughter, Alison Marie Garrett to Eric Robert Blevins, son of Michael and Barbara Troy of Chicago, IIl., and Marvin Blevins of Emporia.
Garrett graduated from Burlington High School and Washburn University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She is in her second year of medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City.
Blevins graduated from Emporia High School and Washburn University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice. He graduated from the Washburn University School of Law and is a member of the Kansas Bar Association. He is the director of Arbitration and Conflict Resolution for the Better Business Bureau of Northeast Kansas.
The couple plan to marry in December 2006 at Fairway.
Wedding: Steckelberg and Mendenhall
Natalie Steckelberg and Karl Mendenhall were married Aug. 19, 2006, at Basswood Country Resort in Platte City, Mo. Benjamin Gray officiated at the evening ceremony.
The maid of honor was Heather Foley. The best man was Steve Mendenhall. The bride’s other attendants were Julie Combes and Amanda Ruxton. The groomsmen were Chris Beeler, brother, and Ira Wheeler. The flowergirls were Kali Combes and Kayla Beeler; Connor Mendenhall was the ring bearer. The wedding musicians were Melinda Cox and Scott Mendenhall. The reader was Nic Steckelberg, brother; and the guestbook attendant was Jennifer Steckelberg, sister.
The wedding reception was at the Basswood Country Resort in Platte City. Attendants were Barbara Hensley and Darcy Mendenhall. The rehearsal dinner was at the Truman Lodge at Basswood Country Resort.
The couple will take a honeymoon trip to Florida in November 2006. They live in Kansas City, Mo.
The bride graduated from Emporia State University and is a senior dental student at the University of Missouri in Kansas City.
The bridegroom attended SMS and UMKC. He works at Sheraton Suites and St. Pius High School.
She is the daughter of Nancy Frizell of Reading and Joseph Steckelberg of Menlo, Iowa.
He is the son of Ruth Summer of Ireland and the late Joseph Mendenhall.
Grandparents are Clare and Pearl Frizell and Lester and Norma Steckelberg of Greenfield, Iowa; and Dorothy Mendenhall and Dwayne Mendenhall, both of Gladstone, Mo.
