Lisa Marie Hudson and Jacob Michael Brittain were married Oct. 26, 2006, at the Kauffman Gardens in Kansas City, Mo.
Lisa Marie Hudson and Jacob Michael Brittain were married Oct. 26, 2006, at the Kauffman Gardens in Kansas City, Mo. The Rev. Nita Collins officiated at the private evening ceremony.
The reception was at the Holiday Inn Grand Ball Room in Olathe. Attendants were Michelle Hirt, Natasha Hardcastle, Amy Johnson and Tracy Hudson.
The couple live in Olathe. They are both doctors of chiropractic and own their business, Brittain Family Chiropractic and Acupuncture in Overland Park.
The bride graduated from Emporia High School, attended Emporia State University and graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College, Kansas City, Mo., with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a doctorate in chiropractic.
The bridegroom graduated from Wichita South High School, Wichita State University with a bachelor’s degree and Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Mo., with a doctorate in chiropractic.
She is the daughter of Joel and Karen Hudson of Emporia. She is the granddaughter of Joe and Kathleen Hudson of Ellsworth.
He is the son of Crystle Brittain and Michael and Dixie Brittain of Wichita. He is the grandson of Dewey and Erlene Brittain of Wichita.
Wedding: Desmarteau and Hileman

The maid of honor was Kelli England, sister of the bride. The best man was Dean Desmarteau, brother of the bridegroom. The bride’s other attendants were Amanda Desmarteau and Angie Heins. Kristen Holloway was the bride’s personal attendant. The groomsmen were Shane England, brother of the bride, and Daniel Logan, brother of the bridegroom. The flower girls were Anna Desmarteau and Danielle Desmarteau; the ring bearer was Miles Miller. Ushers were Cyrus Logan, brother of the bridegroom, Matt Benskin and Ronnie Yockey. Wedding musicians were Trisha Logan and Ciara Moutray. Guestbook and gift attendants were Lauren Moutray and Taylor Heins.
The wedding reception was at the Anderson building on the Lyon County Fairgrounds. Cake servers were Shelly Douglas and Jenny Doty. The rehearsal dinner was at the Emporia home of Jeff and Linda Hedges, the mother and stepfather of the bridegroom.
The couple took a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean and live in Iola.
The bride graduated from Emporia High School, from Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and Washburn University with a master’s degree in social work. She is a social worker for DCCCA, Inc., in Chanute.
The bridegroom graduated from Emporia High School and Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
She is the daughter of former Emporians, Ernie and Pam Kahle of Kansas City, Mo. She is the granddaughter of Dwight and Winky Bush of Emporia.
He is the son of Duane and Roxanne Desmarteau of Emporia. He is the grandson of Merle and Marilyn Yockey of Wichita.
Engagement: Welch and Book

Welch graduated from Central Heights High School and Emporia State University with two bachelor’s degrees, one in physical education and the other in recreation. He is the assistant girls’ basketball coach and the assistant baseball coach at Emporia High School.
The couple plan to marry June 16, 2007, at the West Side Baptist Church.
