The Dia de Los Muertos celebration began with a lively play in Albert Taylor Hall Tuesday evening.

Earlier in the day, school children from Emporia and out-lying towns were bused in for the play. The Emporia Arts Center presented "Sugar Skull" by the musical troupe Mexico Beyond Mariachi. The troupe is based in New York and all are multi-talented artists, who gave meaning to celebrating loved ones who have died.

Saturday is the day-long festival to celebrate and it will include lots of music, food and vendors.
