A grass fire was reported near the county line between Lyon and Coffey counties on Friday afternoon. 

At about 2:15 p.m., scanner traffic indicated a fire near where Road 150 in Lyon County becomes 24th Road Northwest in Coffey County. When crews arrived on scene, they reported an estimated 20 - 30 acres were on fire.

Firefighters from Emporia - Lyon County, Hartford - Neosho Rapids, Reading and Lebo all responded to the scene. 

Fire was close to several structures in the area however officials have yet to confirm if any structures were damaged in the fire. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available. 

At 2:28 p.m, scanner traffic indicated another fire on the Kansas Turnpike.

This involved a Chevy Tahoe at mile-marker 116.7 in the northbound lane on the turnpike. Dispatch indicated the first was located at the bottom of the SUV.

We will have more on both of these fires as information is made available.

Fire danger remains high throughout the weekend.
