The Emporia Convention and Visitors Bureau ended the Kansas Tourism Conference on a high note, bringing home five marketing awards and the People’s Choice award, all presented by the Travel Industry Association of Kansas.

A first-place marketing award was received for Print Material – Magazine Ads; second place awards for Print Material – Billboards and Visitors Guide; and honorable mentions for Online Media and Integrated Campaign.

“Our continued collaboration with IM Design Group helped us achieve success in the TIAK marketing awards competition,” CVB Director Susan Rathke said.

All award entries were judged by four Kansas marketing and advertising professionals with 80-years combined experience.

The sixth award bestowed upon the CVB was People’s Choice.

“The highlight of the dinner and awards banquet was being named People’s Choice winner for our Meeting Planner Survival Kit," Rathke said. "The People’s Choice award is voted on by fellow conference-goers who work in the tourism industry, so the award has extra special meaning."

This year’s conference, Celebrating Diversity Through Tourism, was held in Garden City. The conference offers professional development for TIAK members along with team building and networking opportunities. The purpose of the Travel Industry Association of Kansas is to speak with one voice for the travel industry in the State of Kansas, promoting and supporting all components of the travel industry and travel development field.
